Invoicing

We bill you 3 times a year for the use and basic charges for water supply. The billing periods are
1.1.-30.4.
1.5.-31.8.
1.9.-31.12.

We send the bills in May, September and January.

Estimated invoice

The spring and autumn bills are estimates. The estimate is the annual consumption forecast calculated on the basis of the 2 previous readings. Please report any large or exceptional changes in consumption so that the estimated bills reflect actual usage.

Settlement invoice

A year-end bill is usually always a settlement invoice. In December, we send a water meter report card to the customer for self-reading. You can return the card free of charge by post. You can also conveniently send the reading via the Internet, see the Meter Reading / Consumption-Web heading under which you will find the service.

Reading the meter once a year is important to ensure that billing works and that the customer does not receive unexpectedly high balancing bills or refunds. If you wish, you can report your meter reading more often and receive a refund on every invoice. However, a settlement invoice also includes an estimate, as the invoice will always cover some time after the reading.

E-invoice

You can use e-invoicing in your own online bank. The invoice is sent directly to your online bank, where you can see the invoice and the payment order. You can change the due date, amount and payment account of the invoice. On the due date, the bank will pay the invoice from your account. You will not receive a notification of the e-invoice at home.

Businesses can send their e-billing address directly to the water utility’s office.

Direct payment

You can activate the direct debit service by visiting your bank. You should take your most recent bill with you. This service is for customers who do not have an online banking account for paying bills.

We will send your invoice details home and at the same time the payment details directly to your bank, which will automatically pay the invoice directly from your account on the due date.

Recovery actions

We ask customers to contact us well in advance of the due date if there is a need for more time to pay the invoice. This way, you can manage with lower costs.

The City of Laitila has transferred the debt reminder and collection service to Taitoa Kuntaperintä Oy in 2018. The company now operates under the name Revire Perintä Oy.

The collection agency sends the customer 2 payment reminders and 2 payment requests (one of which may be a cut-off notice). The collection agency also sends a letter with the date of the water supply interruption. In future, the customer will therefore receive up to 5 collection letters. If necessary, the collection agency will take care of the legal recovery (summons, enforcement).

After a reminder from the collection agency, the bill and the costs must be paid to the collection agency’s account and not to the city of Laitila’s account. The additional payment period etc. will also be agreed with the collection agency.

Collection fees charged by the collection agency:

  • payment reminder €5 per item (companies €10)
  • 1st request for payment €14 (claims under €100), €24 (claims between €101 and €1000) or €50 (claims over €1000)
  • 2. payment request/recovery notice; half of the first payment request

Administrative charges:

  • according to the district court and bailiffs’ tariffs

Water utility collection fee:

  • 5 €/each

Interest on arrears in accordance with the Interest Act.

Water supply interruption

The utility may suspend the supply of water and the reception of sewage water because of an unpaid invoice.
The collection agency will inform you by letter of the water cut-off date. To avoid interruption of service, the principal of the invoice and all charges of the collection agency must be paid in accordance with the instructions in the letter. Note! The invoice must be paid to the collection agency, not to the account of the city of Laitila.

The department will charge the costs of closing and opening the valve and travel expenses on the next water bill. On a case-by-case basis, these costs may be charged before the valve is opened.
